Sarah Murphy
Murphy states that her first outing as a baby was the 1988 biathlon Olympic event in Canmore, Alberta, Canada, her hometown. When she started skiing at the age of 13, it was for the hopes of competing in Vancouver 2010. Murphy has has had many recent successes on the way to this life long dream; Murphy finished 3rd in both the individual and sprint races at Biathlon nationals in 2008, and qualified for the Olympics by earning 45th in the sprint event at the World Cup on January 8, hitting nine out of 10 targets.

Sarah Murphy is the first person to compete for New Zealand in the Olympic Biathlon. She was born in Canada, yet her mother is a native of New Zealanand. Murphy is therefor dubbed a "CaniWi".
