Newell has his own company, Xski Films, where he makes cross counry ski films in his spare time to help people better understand the sport. He also donates back to the charity Right to Play through his name brand Silver Bean coffee.

Andrew Newell is a Cross Country Skier representing the United States, his second Olympic appearance. In Turino 2006, he finished 13th in CL team sprint, and 16th in FR sprint(the best U.S Olympic men's sprint result).
